A day in your life as a Commercial Banking Officer
Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the servicing of Commercial Banking clients and developing new business with existing clients and prospects. Responsibilities include the preparation of deposit and credit requests as well as maintenance of the assigned deposit portfolio. If applicable or appropriate, assists in business units compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act. In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.

  • Calls on clients and participates with senior CBOs in joint sales and servicing programs to establish, maintain and expand profitable client relationships, including solicitation of new deposits, credits, trust and investment services to fulfill client needs.
  • Assists in the management of client relationships and maintenance of deposit portfolio (including credit relationships, account inquiries and solving customer problems). Performs ongoing reviews of various credit agreements, and other documents for compliance with covenants. Coordinates the proper documentation, closing and disbursements of loans. May service clients of other officers and assist with operational tasks on an as needed basis.
  • Assists in the preparation of formal written loan requests (CR-60) and memos to file and assists in the structuring, pricing and recommending of commercial credit requests.
  • Analyzes pertinent credit information, financial statements, and related data to evaluate requests for credit.
  • Prepares written correspondence to internal and external clients. Exchanges work related information and/or sells a products/service to external contacts.
  • Meets with staff members and external professionals to develop/maintain professional relationships. Participates in business and community events to expand professional circle and make available services known to wider group.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

This position requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment (typewriter, fax, copier, calculator, telephone).

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT: Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System& Registry. If not yet registered, registration to be completed and accepted no later than 30 days from employment or transfer date. If not registered and accepted, employment may be terminated.

  • Education: Bachelors degree from accredited institution, major in business or related area preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum two to three years of banking experience, including sales and credittraining, or equivalent work experience. Must have a good understanding of relevantaspects of financial statement analysis, as well as some understanding of deposit management and cash flow lending. Requires a general understanding of business economics and markets.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software. Requires advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Other Job Qualifications: Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Interpersonal skills sufficient to build strong working relationships and partnerships across the organization. Able to work with all levels of employees, management, as well as key executives of major corporations. Able to handle high profile accounts and express complex ideas in concise and simple terms. Must be analytical, detail oriented, organized, and independent. Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Must be able to analyze large amounts of data quickly, draw conclusions from sometimes incomplete information and make good decisions. Able to solve problems creatively and decisively. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings a necessary. Able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid drivers license, and able to commute and arrive at intended destination as required. Must be able to travel to various locations and by air as necessary.
