A day in your life as a Data and Reporting Analyst:

 

Under the direction of the Manager, this position provides support for the basic functions of supporting the Enterprise Financial Data Platform which includes:  Enterprise databases, profitability software model, data governance management tools and analytics software.  If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Works with assigned divisions and ensures that necessary BOH data is gathered for financial management reporting purposes.  Ensures that information from source applications, general ledger, annual budgets (capital, operating, business unit), quarterly forecasts, and manual database files are provided for each respective database model.  Reconciles information within the database ensuring completeness and accuracy.  Reviews and analyzes processed results to identify developing trends related to asset/liability reporting, line of business or product profitability reporting or unreasonable unit cost calculations related to activity costs for a particular cost center.  Plans, develops, and/or executes the necessary steps to correct/improve data.
  • Analyzes and updates respective databases methodologies on a regular basis.  Responsibilities may include one or more of the following: 
    1. Ensures that the funds transfer pricing yield curve is properly constructed and maintained;            
    2. Assigns proper funds transfer pricing rates to various product lines through analysis and discussions involving business managers and treasury;                     
    3. Maintains/creates accurate economic reporting  processing methodologies; 
    4. Maintains the cost allocations methodologies through updated activity based cost studies or discussions with support service unit finance liaisons or distribution channels;
    5. Maintains the various business models within the analytics platform as well as the integrity of it’s data and structure;
    6. Maintains adequate documentation related to any of the processing procedures noted above.
  • Interprets and reports database information. Ensures data integrity and accuracy, researches data anomalies and problem solves cross functionally to remediate data issues.   Refines methodologies and enhances the database information of each respective software model to improve the level of management reporting (e.g. LOB reporting, scorecard reporting) to users.  Works closely amongst other Sr. Analysts to ensure adequate database information exists.  Proposes and implements solutions to attain mutually agreed to objectives.  Communicates effectively with business unit users and/or other database users (e.g. Controllers, Marketing, Credit, etc.).
  • Coordinates and executes certain financial/management reporting functions of assigned line units.  Requires the necessary industry knowledge associated with the assigned line unit (e.g. residential lending, consumer products).  Prepares Management reports such as “scorecard” reports, cost study/allocation reports.  Performs queries of respective database(s) and explains developing trends that may be of interest to the business unit or product manager.  Provides information on an ad hoc basis as necessary.  Creates reports for senior/executive management that will highlight unit performance.
  • May supervise analysts as necessary to ensure assigned work is accurate and complete.

 

 


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution with major in finance or accounting or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum three years of increasingly responsible positions with financial data/data bases, management reporting and/or accounting responsibilities or equivalent work experience.
  • Banking or financial services industries strongly preferred.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Oracle SQL, SAP Business Objects Data Services, SAP HANA Studio experience highly preferred.

  • Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and risks, make recommendations and implement changes.
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and assignments with varying deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate strong project management skills. 
  • Proactive, curious, self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions.
  • Active listener, with the ability to build strong working relationships and partnerships across organization with a collaborative and consultative approach.
  • Demonstrated drive to improve, learn, research, and resolve issues independently and/or with others on team. 
  • Possesses a collaborative style which includes teamwork, team building, conflict management, negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
