A day in your life as an Information Security Operations Center Manager
Under the direction of the IT Security Systems Operations Division Manager, this position is responsible for the day to day management of the Bank’s IT Security Operations team along with the all of its IT security operational functions.  Also, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

  • Manages the Bank’s IT security controls, vulnerability management, and incident handling functions.
  • Manages IT security operations staff schedules, workload, compensation, performance, and training/development.
  • Assists Divisional Manager with oversight, planning, budgeting, forecasting, directing, organizing, and executing activities related to IT security controls
  • Establishes and supports operational metrics and reporting for all IT security operations functions.
  • Establishes and continuously monitors service levels of all external providers.
  • Assists with prioritizing and executing the IT security control roadmap and project portfolio.
  • Develops and executes internal IT security operations projects which minimize the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
  • Communicates with other managers to learn about IT security implications of other projects, assists with project planning, and negotiates the IT Security Operations team’s involvement and timing.
  • Continuously monitors external sources of IT security and threat intelligence information. Keeps informed of issues that might negatively impact the Bank’s IT security posture, and develops ideas on IT security improvement.
  • Demonstrates customer service focus by not only providing good service and considering the effect of all actions on internal and external customer service, but always looking for ways to improve service.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience. CISSP and/or CISM certification preferred.
  • Requires minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Required experience is related to a majority of these IT security controls and functions: firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), data loss prevention (DLP) systems, secure email systems, endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems, anti-malware systems, encryption technologies,  network access control (NAC) systems, web access control systems, systems access control systems (e.g. Microsoft’s Active Directory), multi-factor authentication systems, identity and access management (IAM) systems, privileged account management (PAM) systems, security incident handling, forensic analysis, vulnerability management, IT security logging and security information and event management (SIEM), and security standards and testing. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
  • Possess technical expertise with a majority of the above listed IT security controls and functions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability.  
  • Effective conflict management, negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. 
  • Able to provide own transportation or operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and commute as necessary
