A day in your life as an Insurance Specialist:
Under the direction of the division sales manager or equivalent, the Insurance Specialist will provide clients with various insurance related guidance, support, and services. Operating independently and in partnership with our team of Financial Advisors to identify insurance opportunities that will help the firm meet client needs around wealth transfer, estate planning, and wealth protection.  Ensures business units compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Fair Banking, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for conducting sales and relationship management activities in accord with Bank of Hawaii (BOH) 
and the firms guidelines, policies, procedures, disciplines and behaviors. 

Well give you these important responsibilities
  • Identifies, develops, and maintains relationships with internal and external partners and end clients. Formulates insurance solutions and strategies using firm-approved products and services. Promotes the firms insurance capabilities through consistent marketing, networking, and the development and delivery of client, employee, and referral partner educational seminars.
  • Actively solicits and services insurance contracts via telephone, direct mail, referrals, etc. Travels independently in the community and market area for client servicing, prospecting and networking.  Leverages support units or alternative delivery channels to match the servicing needs of the client. Refers clients to subject matter experts within the Bank for advice and potential cross sell opportunities.   Utilizes the Blue360 client relationship management system to track referrals and activities in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Researches and stays abreast of current insurance trends, product changes, tax and other regulatory changes to ensure appropriate insurance strategies are being considered and deployed.  Regularly attends scheduled advisor training events and completes all continuing education assignments. 

if you come to us with these qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from accredited institution or equivalent life insurance experience. 
  • Possesses State of Hawaii Department of Insurance Life and Health license.  

  • Minimum seven years of experience in an insurance firm to include relationship management and direct sales experience or equivalent work experience.  
  • Avg. historic production level of $400,000 - $600,000.  
  • Expert understanding of insurance strategies and products.  
  • CFP/CLU certification strongly preferred.  
  • Experience in working with high net worth clients a plus.

Technical Skills:  
Proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point) or similar software.  
Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.

  • Well organized with the ability to manage time effectively while managing multiple priorities. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. 
  • Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid drivers license and commute as required.
