A day in your life as a Mortgage Banking Platform Manager:
Under the direction of the Mortgage Banking Business Process Manager, this position is responsible for maximizing the efficiency, quality, and customer experience of the processes and systems that manage mortgage loan origination and servicing.  Identifies, plans and manages all aspects of the process improvement initiatives to support the strategic objectives of the Division, including support of Division platforms, evaluation of vendor systems and vendor management.  Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…
  • Manages systems team and serves as origination and servicing system application(s) owner.  Plans and conducts multiple medium to large-scale improvement projects.  Prepares detailed project plans & schedules, establishes business requirements, tests plans, and tests scripts using software tools and templates. Coordinates project evolution, including training and applicable upgrades or conversions.
  • Researches and keeps well-informed of industry trends, best practices, and solutions to position the business for competitive advantage.  Proactively identifies system improvement opportunities and leads process redesign and selection of alternatives, and manages the subsequent development, implementation, monitoring and follow-up.  Leads business unit efforts to identify needs/requirements, define, prioritize and identify cost-appropriate alternatives to meet business unit strategies.  Develops budgets and completes return on investment analysis.  Fully documents planning, budgeting, implemented processes, systems changes and testing, efficiency gains, modifications, fixes and enhancements and ensures testing is complete and conducted and documented according to acceptable standards.  Ensures employees are adequately trained, disruption is minimized and that implementation schedules are met.  Works closely with IMSG, the Bank Project Management Office, internal stakeholders and vendors to manage projects from initiation to post-implementation monitoring and closure. 
  • Ensures controls, procedures and compliance meet Bank standards.  Creates, reviews and analyzes documentation of the business systems and user needs, including workflow, program functions and key system controls.  Ensures compliance with State, Federal and Bank policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.  Identifies and mitigates potential key regulatory and operational risks associated with key application system.    Reviews and tests key system controls.  Maintains sufficient documentation and records of system control activity.  Understands and implements authority limits and validations.  Oversees change management activity system and business processes.  
  • Responsible for the management of all employees in the section including staffing and scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development.  Goal is to attract retain and motivate the team to achieve management business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate.  Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.  
  • Business, accounting, finance or computer science major or coursework preferred.

  • Minimum nine years of work experience in project management positions of increasing responsibility in banking, large mortgage and/or other high volume financial services industry.  
  • Minimum five years of supervisory/management experience. 
  • Project management experience should include significant projects, e.g. strategic change management, new business and product initiatives, process re-engineering, establishment of control procedures, etc. and  clearly evidence strong business process knowledge, understanding of system/platform management, vendor management and regulatory requirements.  
  • Should have significant experience designing and documenting process flows and developing operational performance and quality metric standards and reports.

Technical Skills:  
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Bank software and systems.  
  • Ellie Mae Encompass360 – Banker Edition, Black Knight Mortgage Servicing Platform or related application platform experience preferred.

  • Must be analytical, detail oriented, organized.  
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple changing priorities.  
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and partnerships across division with a collaborative and consultative approach.  
  • Able to identify business and process improvement opportunities and risks, implement procedural change, and establish internal controls.  
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.  
  • Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and have ability to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required.  
  • Able to travel by air as required.  
  • Must be able to move/lift items up to 30 lbs.
