A day in the life as a Project Manager Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for the successful implementation of projects (technologies, products, and processes) from initiation through closing.  This requires the use of all project management processes from the initial definition of the project charter to the development and execution of the project management plan (including scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement plans), to the structuring and management of project resources, performance reporting to the appropriate stakeholders, and formally closing out the project and ensuring all documentation is complete.  This position supports the business analysis processes of business analysis planning and monitoring, requirements management and communication, solution assessment and validation, and underlying competencies to ensure the successful management of business process activities.  Assists in business units compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

With guidance, manages efforts of multi-disciplinary teams assigned to the project. Accountable for the timely completion of all team tasks (technical and operational). Accountable for ensuring that all project deliverables are completed such as user requirements, project design, development, testing, implementation, process re-engineering, system and user documentation, procedures,  and training, issue resolution, and project closing evaluation.
  • Drives technical teams to identify, research, and resolve problems.
  • Escalates to appropriate vendors management for problem resolution.
  • Responsible for managing the definition and implementation of quality standards within the project.
  • Ensures quality metrics are established for the project, and that the technical lead understands the interaction and relationship of systems to business operations
  • Champions the application of quality standards in business and IT processes for a project through training, team facilitation, communication programs and team building activities.
Provides guidance to project teams on PM methodologies and processes, and educates them on their responsibilities for the purpose of achieving quality deliverables.
Assigned to small to medium size and complexity projects.  Integrates technical, business and human resource objectives of project stakeholders (project sponsors, resource managers and project team members). Estimates and negotiates project resources and budgets. Manages and directs assigned project team(s).  Provides leadership, direction and a motivational environment for the team. Supervises project resources as required for the project, which would include delineating clear roles and responsibilities, working with project resource constraints, performance management for the project and management of tasks and timelines.
  • Fosters positive business partnership by ensuring technology is appropriately matched with business requirements.
  • Supports business units in identifying opportunities or developing solutions for issues to include, but not limited to, business process re-engineering, requirements definition, and planning & prioritization.
  • With support, guides business units through project initiation to include problem identification, objectives definition, development of Project Charter and approval by Project Sponsor & concept review by RAC. 
  • With support, guides business units through project planning to include but not limited to requirements definition, scope development, activity estimates, resource planning and scheduling, communication and risk planning, and procurement.,
  • Manages projects by communicating project status, schedule variances, and performing continuous risk assessments. 
Possesses a proven understanding of project management practices and applies project management knowledge and skills to all initiatives. Develops, maintains and monitors the project plan and budget.  Ensures compliance with approved project methodology guidelines and controls.
  • Directs and motivates the team to achieve management's business objectives while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Participates in and/or provides appropriate training, mentoring, and coaching to develop necessary skills and foster a strong team atmosphere.
  • Ensures that a high level of staff, business unit and customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Ensures that the project team complies with all BOH policies. Seeks methods of improvement, shares information, provides complete, constructive, and actionable feedback to others.
    Applies problem solving and facilitation skills to arrive at project decisions acceptable to project stakeholders. Identifies and raises visibility of issues, formulates recommendations, escalates as necessary, gains senior management support and commitment, and resolves.   Earns credibility within the organization.
    With appropriate coaching and mentoring, leads department or enterprise initiatives in the areas of business process management, request management, risk management, resource management, project management, program management, and portfolio management. Focuses on developing individual project management and business process management skills and increasing capacity through training classes, coaching sessions, mentoring opportunities, shadowing more experienced project managers, and providing project management/business process task/activity support to other project managers, Keeps up to date in understanding current project management/business process issues and upcoming trends by attending conferences, participating in PMI/IIBA monthly meetings, and taking advantage of resources offered to professional organization members such as workshops, seminars, newsletters, magazines, etc.

if you come to us with these qualifications
Education:  Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. Certifications Desired:  Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) Certification by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
Experience:  Minimum three or more years of project management and/or business process management experience as a project lead, deliverable owner, or technical resource.  Financial services industry experience preferred.  Requires some experience working with professional staff, functional resources, and project teams.  Some experience working with systems, technology, products, process reengineering, training, risk, procurement, and project management (as opposed to process management) preferred. 
Technical Skills:  Demonstrated proficiency and advanced expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point) or similar software.  Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
Other Job Qualifications:  Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.  Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized.  Able to meet demanding deadlines and handle multiple priorities.  Effective and efficient team player with excellent interpersonal skills, who can also resolve problems independently. Must demonstrate leadership experience and ability. Should be able to analyze complex situations quickly and identify solutions and alternatives. Must be flexible, able to work on multiple projects that may require restructuring due to shifting demands, unforeseen events and changing priorities. Able to work with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels. Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed. Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid drivers license, and able to commute and arrive at intended destination as required.
