A day in your life as a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst:
Under the direction of the Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial reports and reports filed with various regulatory agencies (i.e. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Reserve Bank (FRB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).  If applicable or appropriate, assists in business units compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  

Well give you these important responsibilities
  • Prepares and analyzes periodic reports for the FDIC, FRB, SEC, and other agencies in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions.  Researches and analyzes various accounting and regulatory issues affecting the reporting process.  Maintains and updates GL application interface designated for regulatory reporting.
  • Performs periodic tests and validates report procedures and processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.  Prepares schedules requested by regulatory (e.g. FDIC, FRB) and external (e.g. Ernst and Young) auditors.  Prepares special reports and analyses as requested by Executive Management.
  • Assists in analysis of source system data and improvement of data quality and reconciliation.
  • Maintains and updates policies and procedures, and documentation for department reports.  Recommends procedural changes/process improvement opportunities to streamline reporting process.
  • Reviews various financial and regulatory reports prepared by department staff.  Provides technical guidance and training.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in accounting principles, regulations, and laws.  Assists other departments, branches and subsidiaries with regulatory accounting issues and ensures regulatory reporting requirements are communicated to business units.

Education: 
  • Bachelors degree from accredited institution with major in accounting or related major, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: 
  • Experience: Minimum 5 7 years of increasingly responsible positions with financial reporting and accounting responsibilities or equivalent work experience.  
  • Experience with financial institutions and regulatory reporting preferred.

Technical Skills: 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software.  
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software, systems, and SQL databases.  
  • Must have strong Excel skills.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations. 
  • Must be deadline oriented and demonstrate strong project management skills.  
  • Proactive, curious, self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions.  
  • Demonstrated drive to improve, learn, research, and resolve issues independently and/or with others.  
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned
